With the wood absorbing the light, and without a light source from underneath, I don’t know that enough color will get reflected through to make it look pretty. I have also been drawn to the tutorial on making a wood table with glow in the dark inserts: I like how the tutorial shows to coat the back of the boards with masking tape, something you would need to do as well even if you use my idea above.Īs for transparent colors, yes, you could use them, but I don’t know how pretty they would be without light shining through. You can always pour the resin into this reservoir and allow to cure. Hmm.Ī simpler idea may be to build the table with a raised edge around the outside. That is going to require a large mold box and lots of resin, not to mention how you are going to get the casting out of the mold box. You will need to put in your boards and pour the resin in at the same time. If you want the barn wood completely immersed in the resin, you are going to need a mold box large enough for your table. I hope to get to it sooner rather than later!Īs for what you want to do, there are going to be some challenges. Doing something with resin and wood has been one of my goals as well. ![]()
